“This bottle opens with aromas of beautiful, bright red fruit and follows through with delicate flavors of raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, baking spice, tart cherry, and pomegranate. This is a red that is light on its feet with vivid acidity and enticing mouthfeel, which will drink delightfully this summer at a barbeque or gain layers of beauty in your cellar.” — Elias Fernandez, Winemaker

We’re thrilled to present this first vintage of Eighty Four Gamay Noir. This release embodies the aromas and flavors we love in Cru Beaujolais along with Napa Valley freshness and mouthfeel. We planted the vines several years ago in the Carneros District (in the same vineyard as our Albariño and Shafer’s Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay). This southernmost part of Napa Valley is an ideal spot to develop cool-weather acidity, which shows so beautifully in white grape varieties as well as reds such as Pinot Noir and Grenache. We believe it’s also the perfect site for Gamay Noir. We look forward to seeing how this wine evolves with future releases as the vines age and as we learn more about working with this variety.
